P.R.A.Y. Jewelry.
Sitting at my production
assistant's desk in Ubud, Bali, it felt as though light was shining down on my hands from
above. Maybe divine, possibly heaven (whatever that means),
possibly the sun shining through the enclosed ceiling. In that moment, a year ago nearly to the day, thoughts of how or why a light was shining in this peculiar manner were absent from my mind. I was completely
connected, every chakra open to a higher self.
From my higher self, in the light from “above”, I looked at my jewelry
samples and drawings before me, and the word PRAY emblazed in my field of vision. Without ego mind-thought, intuitively this creative vision flowed. Forming in perfect unison was the acronym: Pure, Rock, Angel, Yogi. For weeks the focus in my life: brand jewelry line and/ or potential clothing line. This name, PRAY came to me while designing
talismans, a clear sign from the Universe. It fit; PRAY for a line of
jewelry made with the intention of healing, manifesting, protection.
What are the reasons people pray? It differs by culture, country, religion, family, individual. Generalizations can be made about this heavily loaded topic. Without getting into an
in-depth religious discussion about prayer, I will simply state that it is my belief that on at a base level, people pray to God (some one/ thing/ energy greater than or connected to themselves) for protection against evil, guilt, fear, for help through
life. Being born into a Jewish family, I
was raised with sense of tradition, culture, ancestors, devotion to history,
but disconnected from religion and spirituality. PRAYer meant sitting in a large,
uncomfortable, poorly decorated 80’s style building (aka temple) for hours on end listening
to Hebrew chanting. The best part of temple was people watching all the good Jewish folk meet in hallways, socializing and matchmaking. This word pray also carries
middle America stigma of evangelist priests, catholic churches, religious institutions instilling fear and guilt into millions of people in order to build wealthy, powerful movements. Suffice it to say, when the vision of "PRAY" came from my being, I was not sure how to react at first. I was conflicted for obvious reasons. P.R.A.Y. as an acronym describing my inner essence, similar to my spiritual name, Zahara Jade, fit like a glove. Pure, Rock, Angel, Yogi. Somewhere inside intuition was strong enough to break mind barriers and stereotypes, allow me to connect with spirit, and follow my heart.
Pure strength - an inscribed necklace "Pure Strength"; rose gold and a tiny diamond I wore for years through my transition from life in the matrix to a free, self-created life. Stolen in Vietnam during a yoga photo shoot, this very necklace was a driving force reminding me to create my own line of inspiring, protective jewelry.
Rock - represents my strength, resilience, and also love of rock climbing
Angel - connection with angel/ fairy world. Danced around South Thailand jungle for a month in 2012 in angel wings as a fairy. Angels are supernatural spirits of protection, my essence coming through the PRAY talisman line
Yogi -divine, aware goddess on path of enlightenment.
A year later the acronym P.R.A.Y.
remains strong and the word itself not only holds more meaning in my life, but I
believe now is the time to reshape what the word "pray" means to society. There is no need for this word/ act to carry negative associations.
Chatting with a friend the other day, he began to lecture me about
“praying”, that he, unlike most of society, does not PRAY. Rather, he “gives energy to a Universal source with no attachment to
expectations of outcome”. I explained
that when I “P.R.A.Y.”, I do the same. I put
out intentions, beliefs, and ideas I wish to become realities. Planting them as seedlings in the Universe, thus in my subconscious, they send my energy out into the world
to elicit environmental responses which support
me in my endeavors of reaching goals that connect me to my higher self. This is my theory of how manifestation works
on a tangible, physical level, minus the scientific lingo. In other words, we create the reality we want
by “manifesting” it, by P.R.A.Y. - ing for it.
Most of us do this without thinking about it, even on a small
scale. If I want broccoli for dinner, I
think about the broccoli. I may even
write “broccoli” on a grocery list (aka Vision Board). Then I take action to go to the grocery store
and BOOM, broccoli has manifested. It’s not
magic, but extraordinary experiences that may be far beyond what we deem
possible on a daily basis can feel like magic. Magic sometimes feels nearly impossible to manifest, thus not worth PRAYing for.
I have been “praying” to my Hindu god, Ganesha, since Mr. V, my Vedic Astrologer recommended it last year.
In India I visited the Ganapati (Ganesha) temple every Wednesday,
my given auspicious day to do pooja.
This act feels spiritual, connecting to my higher self, as opposed
to religious, asking for protection out of fear, hatred, anger. It is about expanding, creating, envisioning beauty around us. Fill mind and thoughts with positive and the world will respond in kind. Now I carry items with me to
serve as an altar: incense, hand-painted Ganesh, 3 crystals: two quartz crystals from an
island where I spend time that brings me energy and clarity, 1 a rose quartz
from a dear friend, 3 coins: Om, Ganesha, and Shiva, Green Onyx Mala, and PRAY Jewelry Om Pendants. I take time connecting to these items in order to center, align with my intuition, and send my vision into the world. Every day I am closer and closer to this reality. Every day I am living the reality I wish to be living. I am living the reality I want, but egoistical desires keep me wanting more. I am aware, yet I am more than content in the moment with the richness and juiciness of my life. And so I keep P.R.A.Y. - ing.Pure strength - an inscribed necklace "Pure Strength"; rose gold and a tiny diamond I wore for years through my transition from life in the matrix to a free, self-created life.

Somewhere inside, intuition was strong enough to break mind barriers and
stereotypes, allowing me to connect with spirit and follow my heart.
The name suited the line of jewelry
and my vision, although these aspects did not evolve in linear time. P.R.A.Y. boosts one’s ability to
manifest, create magic in our lives, draw in seemingly impossible realities and make them real. To learn about how P.R.A.Y. is created, how its' energy is charged with powers to boost manifestation, protection and positive vibes, please visit:
