Uluwatu, South Bali

The Black Moon was felt by all of us here in Bali. I spoke to my friend, Ketut, at Zula, my favorite hangout in Seminyak, about this, while I was sequestered there for 10 days away from my homey, artistic Ubud community. He explained to me that during the Black Moon, the Balinese do a special ceremony to worship Mother Earth because she is cracking open underneath us all. On this day, as Mother Earth is cracking open, we are also cracking open inside. Our brain, our mind, our hearts are cracking wide open and emotions our flooding out uncontrollably. Many of us average humans experience this day, the week around this day as unsettling, emotional, and intense. Waves of emotion inexplicably flooding us. Out of nowhere, for me, my world had been flipped up-side-down and inside-out just like when I went surfing in Padang Padang and got caught on the inside and torn up under a huge wave.
Ketut said that as the uncontrollable waves of emotions pass by, the best thing to do is to watch them. The Balinese create a ceremony around this. Most of us Westerners are left baffled and confused by what is happening inside. We are sitting at cafe's or at at the beach, wondering why our lives are all of a sudden shaken to the core. I shared with Ketut the imagery that had come to me that Black Moon Monday: I was sitting in Clear Cafe in Ubud, everything I knew to exist and be true for the past 2 months had shifted and changed, and I saw the image of an earthquake underneath me. The earth cracked, just like he said, split open, and shifted so that there was no steady ground under my feat. He was shocked and pleasantly surprised that I too shared this vision of his people.
Magic is very much alive in Bali. The Balinese are in tune with Mother Earth to a great extent, and it is palpable. Healing is possible and inevitable if you remain here. I have not intentionally been seeking healing but it is happening. Manifestation is potent and universal flow never-ending.
I left the US to travel around the world in March of 2008. I tried to return for a brief stint in Northern California which proved unsuccessful. I am back in Asia living in the present moment, in the flow, listening to my intuition and following it at every moment. Living on the edge, breathing, journeying, flying, inspiring and being inspired every moment. LIVE YOUR LIFE!
